Signs of pneumonia

December 17th, 2011 Posted in General

Pneumonia is a lung infection that can be caused by different types of microorganisms, including bacteria, viruses, and fungi.
All patients diagnosed with “bird flu” show signs of pneumonia, although symptoms may be mild. If you’ve been diagnosed with viral pneumonia, you need to rest and drink plenty of fluids. The causes for the development of pneumonia are extrinsic or intrinsic, and various bacterial causes are noted.
Bacteria are the most common cause of community acquired pneumonia, with Streptococcus pneumoniae isolated in nearly 50% of cases. With treatment, most patients will improve within 2 weeks. Treatments for other types of pneumonia will depend on the cause, although there is usually no specific treatment for most viral causes of pneumonia. Pneumonia can be a serious and life-threatening infection.
