Chronic pelvic disease
Without treatment, PID can lead to severe problems like infertility, ectopic pregnancy, and chronic pelvic pain.Chronic pelvic pain occurs in approximately 25% of patients with a history of Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID). This pain is thought to be related to cyclic menstrual changes, but it also may be the result of adhesions or hydrosalpinx.
Any damage done to your pelvic organs before you start treatment likely cannot be undone. Still, don’t put off getting treatment. If you do, you may not be able to have children. If you think you may have PID, see a doctor right away.
Make a record of your pain and take it with you to your appointment. It will help your physician to know exactly when your pain occurs, where your pain is located, and the severity of your pain. If pelvic inflammatory disease is left untreated it can become life- threatening!
